Department of Health and Human Performance

We are delighted to share a series of videos created by our students in the Barcelona Study Abroad Program with Dr. Leslie Hart and Dr. Beth Sundstrom. Their first stop is the Gothic Quarter - over 2,000 years old. We hope you will follow along as they explore public health in Barcelona.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH

HEHP is now hiring an Assistant Professor of Public Health.  If interested, details found here.

HEHP is proud of our faculty member, Dr. Leslie Hart, and her work investigating the environmental impact of man-made chemicals on the health of both bottlenose dolphins and college-aged students.  Her work is featured in Episode 7 of BBC America's Planet Earth: Blue Planet II.

Have you ever wanted to learn to surf, figure skate, paddle board, or enjoy Tai Chi on the Cistern?   If so, see these and more of our PEAC offerings in the course catalog and sign up for Spring!

Within the Department of Health and Human Performance, we consider the study of health and performance as essential components of any education. The Department of Health and Human Performance offers majors in athletic training*, exercise science, physical education/teacher education, and public health (B.S.) as well as a minor in coaching. The Department also offers a wide range of activity courses, like surfing (see video below!), that enrich the overall student experience at the College of Charleston.

* Please note: As of June 1, 2016, students will no longer be able to delcare athletic training as a major at the College of Charleston. Futhermore, students must have been enrolled at the College of Charleston during the 2015-16 academic year to be eligible for application and successful completion of all program and major requirements. These changes in the availability of the Athletic Training Education Program are pending program termination approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE).
