E-mail: NguyenY@cofc.edu

Dr. Anh-Dung “Yum” Nguyen is in his second year as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance, where he teaches undergraduate courses in the Athletic Training Education Program and Exercise Science Concentration.

Dr. Nguyen is continuing to progress his research agenda in the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory with the assistance of undergraduate research assistants.  His primary research interests focus on identifying risk factors associated with lower extremity injury, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.  Current research includes the evaluation of lower extremity alignment and its role in neuromuscular and biomechanical responses during dynamic motion.  He is currently a co-investigator on a multi-center, risk factor screening project focused on adolescent athletes.

Dr. Nguyen’s scholarly work includes several invited presentations at national meetings and international clinical symposia, and has authored or co-authored over 20 papers published or in press with refereed journals related to sports medicine, 3 book chapters, and over 40 scientific abstracts presented at the annual meetings and clinical symposia.  He was also a recipient of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research and Education Foundation Doctoral Scholarship and has been awarded several grants to develop and encourage undergraduate research.  Dr. Nguyen has been a Board Certified Athletic Trainer since 1998 and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
